A few weeks ago I announced a two week blogging break while we did some website maintenance. Turns out the pictures from our last wedding were too fantastic for the website to handle. Apparently the optimization was too high, but I’m really thinking it’s more like the wedding party was too attractive for the internet and shut it down. Well, that two week hiatus very quickly turned into a month long break, but I’m excited to be back!
During my break from blogging, I also took a little break from work. I was able to go on vacation, take a step back from work responsibilities, read a book, and spend some time with the most important people in my life (which did not last four weeks, unfortunately). Sometimes taking a little break is necessary in order to get back on track! I know in the wedding industry it can be easy to put your head down and work work work! When you have a wedding (or two) every weekend for a solid month and no breaks it can be easy to forget to give yourself a day to relax and unwind from all the hectic planning around you! I make it a point to give myself at least half a day off from work after every wedding. It reminds me that my life is more than a career. It reminds me to not get caught up in the routine of meetings and emails everyday and 15 hour workdays on the weekend. I think, in business, sometimes rest is just as important as working hard as long as your budgeting your time wisely.
So, that being said, I am excited to be back and bringing you guys more wedding advice and ideas! I hope you all are getting some rest this summer! I hope I encouraged you to remember that in the midst of all the summer craziness (especially my industry friends!) to take a moment to rest. You’ll thank yourself for it and will have more motivation when you get back from a well-deserved vacation.
