I. Love. Halloween. Something I don’t think many people know about me is that I am captivated by the creepy, spooky, and weird. I’m not into the gross and gory aspects of Halloween and the evil doesn’t appeal to me either. But the creepy, eerie things that don’t make you uncomfortable enough to leave, but keep you uneasy? That can put me in a good mood. I get really excited for this time of year. I love the movies, the decorations that pop up in all the stores, and the ridiculous blow-up decorations in suburban front yards. Everything goes dark at Halloween. Candy goes dark, commercials go dark, TV goes dark. I’m obsessed.

Line the walkway with luminaries to give them that spooky feeling from the moment they arrive. Setting the tone for your guests before they ever enter the door is a small detail that goes a long way. It gets your guests in the right mind set so they’re ready to party upon arrival. You know how it can be when going to an event. You’re running behind, your lipstick broke in the car, and your beaded purse picked your dress. Setting the tone outside the door allows your guests a moment to feel like they’ve arrived and let all those little things go before they start the hellos.
When you think wall flowers, you think happy, inviting, carefree. Floral decor is typically light and soft. But that just won’t do for a Halloween party. These black paper flowers adorned with spiders spinning their webs is a little more fitting. Learn how to make them here!
