In case you haven’t noticed, “greenery” is Pantone’s color of the year for 2017, and it’s hit hard in the wedding world. “Greenery” is a bright yellow-green that exudes the feeling of fresh, new beginnings. Clean, white weddings bursting with bright green have been a huge hit lately, really starting to gain momentum in 2016. It takes a lot to pull all of those details together to make your wedding cohesive, and, if this zesty green hue is your vision, how do you make your clean, green wedding stand out from someone else who is taking Pantone’s advice and going green? This week’s how-to post is going to help you incorporate Pantone’s “greenery” into your big day while staying unique and true to yourself!
Let’s start with the obvious, if you want to add “greenery” to your wedding, get lots and lots of greenery from your florist. This is a no-brainer; loading your ceremony and reception site with greenery will give the color an obvious presence. Get with your florist for a meeting to come up with some creative and unique ways to showcase greenery. I’ve seen it hanging from the ceiling, bundled into oversized wreaths, or attached to a wall to create a unique and eye-catching backdrop. I’ve assembled some inspiration to get some ideas flowing!
Now, just because you’re interested in emphasizing this fresh hue doesn’t mean you have to forget all about the other beautiful colors out there! Pair “greenery” with some of Pantone’s other favorites for this year. This is probably my favorite way to use “greenery” in your wedding – accented by other colors. We’re flipping design on it’s head by still having accent colors but allowing greenery to take the show, and I think it’s fantastic!
Another great way to emphasize the color of the year is in your invitations. Set the tone for your wedding day early by sending some green invitations out 6 – 8 weeks prior to your wedding date. Feel free to play around with different shades of green in your invitations as well! I’m in love with this pale green marble stationary from minted!
While the majority of brides aren’t going to go for a green wedding gown, there are still ways to incorporate green into your attire for the day. An obvious option is green bridesmaids dresses for the ladies and ties for the men. But what about green wreath boutonnieres as a unique way to get green into the men’s attire? Try greenery hair pieces as a way to pull green out of the maids’ dresses and bouquets to complete the look. Add a little greenery to your hair too and pair with some peridot jewelry to add “greenery” to your look for the day as well!
Finally, let’s talk food! I know at first that sounds gross, don’t worry; I’m not talking green eggs and ham here. There are some really great ways to incorporate this bright, fun color into your food options. I’m thinking bright green mojitos and macaroons! (If you don’t already know my feelings on macaroons as wedding favors – or just macaroons in general – read about wedding favor ideas here)! And of course, you can garnish your food and cake with some beautiful greenery from your florist!
Have any great ideas to incorporate Pantone’s “greenery” into your wedding day? Drop a comment and throw some new ideas my way! I’d love to hear what you guys have seen or tried!
